Things to Do in Jim Thorpe
The out-and-back trip on vintage trains takes riders through Lehigh Gorge State Park. The train cars are open-air, so bringing a blanket to keep warm on cold days is best.
For outdoor adventure, the Lehigh Gorge Trail from town goes up into White Haven. The scenic bike route is full of waterfalls, dams, and locks. And for those who love to walk, the Switchback Trail also starts in town and leads people on a nice, flat trail to Mauch Chunk Lake Park.
Jim Thorpe is one of the best places to visit in October in the USA. The town goes all out with Halloween decorations, and the storefronts along West Broadway have some of the best decorations. It is also where most of the restaurants and accommodations are located in this area.

Overlooking the town is the Harry Packer Mansion Inn, a Victorian home that inspired Disney’s Haunted Mansion.
It is the perfect spot to call home for a Halloween-themed weekend or just to have a lovely stay.

Wytheville is also a stone’s throw from New River Trail State Park, a 57-mile linear park that’s home to the New River Trail, the longest rail-trail in Virginia. Bring your own bike or rent a bike along the trail.
Wytheville has lots of gram-worthy attractions too, like the rainbow-painted hot air balloon water tower and the “Big Pencil” at Wytheville Office Supply on Main Street.

30. Florida Fall Vacation in Fort Lauderdale
Fort Lauderdale is one of the best fall vacations in the United States.
Home to some of the best beaches like Dania Beach, Hollywood Beach and Lauderdale by the Sea, among others.
Fort Lauderdale makes a great base for your adventures in Southern Florida, whether you want to explore the restaurant scene, check out Everglades National Park, or enjoy adventures on the water like snorkeling, diving or boating.
While the region experiences the hurricane season in late September through early October, the rest of fall is a fantastic time to visit Florida when you can enjoy mild temperatures and plenty of sunshine before the busy winter season kicks in.
November is the best month to visit Fort Lauderdale because it’s the last month before the busy winter season. Prices on tours and accommodations are not as expensive in November and it’s not as busy compared to the winter season.
The average temperature in Fort Lauderdale during this time is in the high 60’s- mid 70’s.

I’d love to travel more in the fall! It’s my favorite time of year. I probably won’t get a lot of opportunity until I retire from teaching, though I am taking two personal days in September to go to Disneyland. I’ve never done that before. We loved our trip out west this summer, and we’d go again in a heartbeat. Maybe our next visit can be in the fall!
Fall is such a great time to travel! Have fun at Disneyland!
