My family lives in Utah and have personally been to almost all of these events listed below. We try to do as many Utah Fall festivals as possible. Utah takes Halloween to the next level and we love it!
Utah in the Fall is such a wonderful time. For the most part, the weather is amazing too! Plus, there are so many family-friendly things to do in Utah in October.
I have to say Utah is obsessed with Fall and Halloween! I am so excited to share with you all the amazing options for Fall activities in Utah!
In this post, we are going to explore A LOT of options. Most of these fun fall activities in Utah will be anytime from late September to November. However, the majority will happen in Utah in October.
There are pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and even exploring some of the best National Parks in the USA, which are of course in Utah.

17. Thanksgiving Point - Cornbelly's
Cornbellys at Thanksgiving Point is probably one of the best Utah fall activities. There are games, food, and lots of fun! It is a super popular destination for fall fun!

There are now two locations one is at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi and a smaller extension is in Spanish Fork.

There are over 50 attractions at Cornbelly’s. They are so fun! Every age can enjoy the different activities. My kids love it. You can easily spend an entire day at Cornbellys. More attractions open at night and become “haunted.”

Kuwahara is a great place for local fall activities to enjoy. My kids love it! There is something for everyone.
If you want a scary option for teens they have it, or if you want to keep things kid-friendly they have lots of non-scary options.
20. Cross E. Ranch

A fun Fall activity in Salt Lake City is heading to Cross E Ranch. The Utah Fall Festival is so fun! There are many Utah fall activities to enjoy.

21. Sundance Full Moon Lift Rides

Fall in Utah Date Night
This is a great Utah Fall date night idea. You will enjoy a romantic lift ride up the mountain with the full moon shining overhead.
This ride takes about 45 minutes – 1 hour to complete. However, you can use the lift as much as you want between the hours of 8:30 pm and 11:00 pm.
At higher elevations, the air is cooler. So be sure to dress warm. You could also arrive early and hike Bridal Veil Falls to see the beautiful fall leaves.

Fall Activities in Utah
Similar to the Full Moon night ride the Halloween lift ride is a little spookier and fun for the whole family. It is a great Utah fall activity.
The ride last about 30-45 minutes. There is hot chocolate and other food for sale after you enjoy your ride.
23. Halloween Cruise on the Provo River

Provo River Cruise
The Halloween cruise seats up to 35 people. As you board your captain will tell ghost stories while you pass by 100 hand-carved Jack-o-lanterns.
The ride is family-friendly and lasts about 20-25 minutes. This is a Utah fall activity that is fun for everyone!
24. Gardner Village Witch Fest

Witch Fest
Witch Fest is one of our favorite fall activities in Utah. There are crazy witches all around Gardner Village. You can do a scavenger hunt to find them all. Once you have finished you can head to the bakery and get a free cookie.
There is also a witch dinner theater and witch escape room that you can purchase tickets for. For the kids, there is a petting zoo, pony rides, and play areas for an additional cost. It is one of our favorite places!
The Witch Fest is one of the best Utah Fall activities!
25. Lagoon Frightmares

Amusement Park
Lagoon is Utah’s amusement park. There are lots of fun roller coasters and attractions. During Frightmares there are scary attractions including haunted houses and shows. For children, there is trick or treating throughout the park. It is a fun fall event!
Frightmares is awesome. It needs to go on your “Things to do in the Fall in Utah” list.
New in 2024, there are extra events that have an additional cost than what is included in your frightmare day pass. Peters Pumpkin Patch will consist of games and cookie decorating for an additional $12. The Seance Ritual is a live performance for an additional $17.
You can also purchase a Time Warp Fast Pass for $30.
26. Scary Hill at Cherry Hill

Cherry Hill is a campground and small amusement park. They have some fun activities, especially for Halloween which include:

27. BooLights at the Zoo

BooLights
Kids 12 and under can come dressed in costume and do fun activities. Each day there are different events such as magicians, mermaids, and wild witches. There are fun lights and decorations along the path to check out.

28. Snowbird Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is one of the Utah Fall festivals you will love! Snowbird Ski Resort has been voted one of the top 10 Oktoberfest in America by Men’s Journal Magazine. You can try German-style beer and food.
There are fun activities at Snowbird. You can also book an Oktoberfest Getaway Package and stay at the resort.
Snowbird is located in Little Cottonwood Canyon. It is a beautiful area, and worth a trip up into the mountains for this event!
29. Hale Center Theater

Hale Center Theater offers quality plays all year long but usually during the Halloween season is the best time to attend because there is a special production. In 2024 The Addams Family will be featured.
Admission: Prices vary depending on seat selection.
Of all the fall activities in Utah, Hale is one that you can guarantee will be good. The show is fabulous and keeps you entertained!
30. This is the Place Heritage Park – Little Haunts

Little Haunts
This is the Place Heritage Park that offers non-scary fall activities in Utah for younger children. There is trick or treating, storytelling, pumpkin roll, and candy cannon.
31. Haunted Aquarium

Halloween at High Seas is a separate ticket from the regular aquarium ticket. Prices will vary depending on the day you go.
Halloween on the High Seas is the theme. It is a nighttime event on the plaza. There are pirates and mermaids, a carnival, treats, trick or treating, and a parade.
What to Expect
The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is decorated throughout the entire building. A scavenger hunt is available to do as you visit. Trick or treating is available on select days throughout October. This is one of the best fall activities in Utah for little kids.

Trick or Treasure is a special event not included with daytime admission. The event is on:

32. Heber Creeper – Pumpkin Train

$15 for tickets. You will want to book early as these train rides sell out fast!
Train Ride
This 90-minute train ride has assigned seats and offers a delicious pumpkin cookie. You will be entertained with Halloween songs and Halloween characters and end at a Halloween Village full of ghosts.
This is a very fun Halloween Utah attraction. It is one of the best things to do in Utah in Fall.
33. Pumpkin Walk

What to Expect
If you are looking for free fall activities in Utah. The pumpkin walk features hundreds of carved glowing pumpkins. There are also scenes made of pumpkins and gourds.
We have been to this event and it is very fun! It is one of the best fall activities in Utah if you live in Northern Utah.
Haunted Houses in Utah
I have to be honest, Utah haunted houses are some of the best in the country. One of the best things to do in the fall in Utah is visit a haunted house.
There are so many I can’t even list all of them here. I will only list the BEST haunted houses in Utah.
34. Nightmare on 13th and X Scream

Two Attractions
Nightmare on 13th is the haunted house. X Scream is a second VIP attraction that is more scary. If you want to do X Scream your ticket includes both Nightmares on 13th and X Scream. You can not do X Scream alone.
35. Castle of Chaos

Nationally Recognized Haunted House in Utah
The Castle of Chaos has been recognized by the Travel Channel and USA Today as one of the scariest haunted houses in America. It is also recognized by Haunted World as the best-haunted house in Utah.
The Castle of Chaos also has escape rooms available to try out.
36. Fear Factory

Top 20 Scariest Haunted House in the World
Fear Factory is another nationally acclaimed haunted house with recognitions from the Travel Channel, USA Today, and Buzz Feed. Fear Factory is made up of 6 buildings and is 6 stories high. It is kind of creepy that its address is truly 666.
37. Strangling Brothers Haunted Circus

What is really neat about the Strangling Brothers is that you will be entertained while you wait. There is a stage with performers and motorcycles may even be involved.
They are offering a non-haunted (no actors) option in 2024.

This haunting begins at night. There are four haunted attractions but the premier haunted attraction is Insanity Point. The attractions include:

Scenic Drives in Utah
40. Alpine Loop
The Alpine Loop National Scenic Byway begins at the American Fork Canyon and ends in the Provo Canyon. It is an amazing fall drive because the Utah fall foliage is incredible. It is a beautiful place to see all the fall colors in Utah.
Hot Tip
As the trees change color this road gets busy. It is almost bumper to bumper as you complete the 20-mile stretch from start to finish.
41. Guardsman Pass
Guardsman Pass is located between the Brighton Ski Resort and Park City in Big Cottonwood Canyon. It is one of the best places to see the fall colors in Utah. It is located at the top of the Canyon.
Guardsman Pass is one of the most popular scenic drives in Utah during the Fall. The leaves start to change in September. This is the peak season for fall colors.
Guardsman Pass has some of the brightest colors and a fantastic scenic overlook. It is one of the best scenic drives in Utah.
42. Utah National Parks
This list would not be complete without adding one of the best Fall activities in Utah, visit the Mighty five National Parks, and camping in Southern Utah.
The weather is perfect in Utah during October for camping, hiking, and visiting the National Parks.
The five national parks include:
- Zion National Park
- Arches National Park
- Canyonlands National Park
- Bryce Canyon National Park
- Capitol Reef National Park
Although there are no special Halloween or Fall activities at the national parks, the fall season is absolutely one of the best times to visit.
Utah Weather in October
The weather in Moab in October is unbeatable. The high is around 74 degrees. This is perfect for visiting Arches National Park and Canyonlands.
Capitol Reef is slightly cooler with an average high around 65 degrees. We went last October and it was perfect.
Zion National Park weather in October is around 66 degrees. This is a great temperature while you are hiking and exploring. Bryce Canyon is a little cooler around 57 degrees.
Visiting the Utah National Parks in October is the perfect thing to do during Fall in Utah!
43. Sleepy Hollow

Wagon Ride
You can experience the Legend of Sleepy Hollow in Springville. This 45-minute wagon ride experience will lead you through a spooky forest with the narration of Sleepy Hollow. You may see Ichabod Crane himself!
Beautiful Horses are actually used to enhance the experience.
Now in Midway Utah
Sleepy Hollow Wagon Rides are also in Midway Utah near Park City. You can enjoy the same experience in two locations. This is such a fun Utah Fall attraction.
44. Scare Crow Festival

We went to the ice cream festival a few years ago and it was amazing! I would go again in a heartbeat! It is my favorite thing about the state fair. The Utah State Fair is a great addition to your “Utah Fall Activities” List.
46. American West Heritage Center

The American West Heritage Center offers a fun time on the farm. Fall is a great time to visit.
