Best Things to Do on Odyssey of the Seas
First off, I wanted to let you know why I chose Odyssey of the Seas. I am a huge fan of Royal Caribbean. I think it is an amazing cruise line and one of the best family-friendly cruise lines out there.
I have 1 younger kid, a tween, and 2 teenagers. I wanted to find the best cruise ship for teenagers.
Odyssey of the Seas is the best cruise ship for teenagers! As I looked at the Odyssey of the Seas activities, I knew my family would love them.
My Favorite Odyssey of the Seas Activities
- I Fly
- Bumper Cars
- Flo Rider
- SeaPlex
- Ice Cream
- Shows
There are so many fun things to do! It is an amazing cruise ship.
I mentioned above that the Quantum ships have advanced technology. You will see this as you get on an elevator that has touch-free buttons, or in the shows where droids are used to create incredible effects!
Let’s jump into the best Odyssey of the Seas activities!
1. Rip Cord by I Fly
Ripcord by I Fly is a family-friendly indoor skydiving facility. It is a whole new level of fun! It is located on Deck 15 at the back of the ship.
You will need to make a reservation for this activity!
Our Experience
We decided to do this activity towards the end of our cruise. It was worth the wait!
You are given a jumpsuit and an instructor who will let you know exactly what to do the entire time you are in the sky diving experience.
We had so much fun. As a beginner, you will be flying in place. The instructors could jump and twirl all around.
It was a fun experience I probably would never have done had it not been on the cruise ship!
This is one of the best Odyssey of the Seas activities!
2. Bumper Cars
When I saw the Odyssey of the Seas had bumper cars I was pretty much sold! This is one of the top things to do on Odyssey of the Seas!
This was the first Odyssey of the Seas activity that we did! It is located in the Seaplex on Decks 14 and 15.
You do not need to make reservations. The line will typically always be 30-45 minutes. It wasn’t bad. It is fun to watch everyone participate.
Plus, there is a Coke machine nearby so you can enjoy a drink while you watch.
One thing I will mention is that the bumper cars have a lot of power! Way more than your typical bumper cars that are attached to a pole in an amusement park.
When someone runs into you, you really feel it!
Our Experience
We did this activity multiple times because we really enjoyed it. We waited around 30ish minutes each time we went. It is a must-do Odyssey of the Seas activity!
3. Laser Tag Crystal City
I love laser tag! I was pretty excited when we got on the cruise ship and you could sign up for it!
The laser tag is located in the SeaPlex on Deck 14 and 15.
You will need to make a reservation to participate.
Our Experience
I have some really competitive kids! We ran around and did our best! There are places to hide and jump out at people. It is a fun family-friendly activity!
4. Sky Pad
The Skypad was a really cool virtual experience using trampolines. I was bummed when we got on the cruise ship and there was nothing inside!
Apparently, it closed in 2023 on all Royal Caribbean ships because of injuries and lawsuits! Bummer!
They are working on another virtual experience that includes an immersive underwater experience or an interstellar experience.
This has been added to one quantum class ship and will hopefully be added soon to the Odyssey of the Seas.
The cost is around $15 to participate.
In the meantime, the Skypad area located on Deck 15 is used as a dance floor for parties. Game competitions are also held there.
5. Flo Rider Surf Simulator
The Flo Rider is a surfing simulator good for beginners, intermediate, and advanced users. It is included in your cruise fare, so you can do this as many times as you would like.
There is only 1 Flo Rider on Odyssey of the Seas. If you have been on Oasis-class ships like Oasis of the Seas or Allure of the Seas they have 2.
It is located on the top deck at the back of the ship near the IFly experience.
Our Experience
The Flo Rider is a pretty popular attraction on Odyssey of the Seas. There is always a line! It can take up to an hour to actually give it a try.
What I will say is when it is your turn you are given a lot of attention. The workers want to make sure that you get it right. They will help you succeed and even show you advanced moves if you are ready for it.
We loved giving it a shot and did it a few times during our cruise. There is also a really nice area where you can watch and wait!
6. The North Star
The North Star is an observation capsule that is lifted 300 ft above the cruise ship giving you 360-degree panoramic views.
You will need to make a reservation to ride! You can do this using the Royal Caribbean app.
The ride is about 15-20 minutes. It can fit about 14 people at a time in the capsule. On Deck 15 there is a check-in station where they will confirm your reservation and then take you up to the boarding area.
Our Experience
We did the North Star while we were waiting to tender to Santorini Greece. It was really beautiful to see this area from an ariel view. I would choose to do this experience on port days or when you know there is something awesome to see.
I typically do not like heights but this did not bother me.
7. Pool Area
In the Splashaway Bay area, there is a family pool and a splash pad with small water slides and water cannons. The Splashway Bay area is a great area for fun family time.
This area has a resort-style pool deck that is great to relax and swim. It is located on Deck 14.
Our Experience
We enjoyed our time at the pool. I typically like to hang out in the hot tub while the kids swim!
We noticed that sometimes the pool can get really crowded. It is best to go earlier in the morning or later at night. This is a fun free activity on Odyssey of the Seas!
8. Relax in the Solarium
The Solarium is an adult area pool. There is a nice quiet vibe in this area. During breakfast this area is usually open for all ages to eat.
I feel like when we went the age limit was 16 and up but this may have changed recently.
It is located on Deck 14.
Our Experience
The hot tubs in this are are awesome. There are plenty so we didn’t find it crowded at all. This area is quiet and nice to get away from the crowds.
9. SeaPlex
The Seaplex is probably one of the best places to enjoy all of the Odyssey of the Seas activities. It is the largest indoor activity space on any cruise ship!
This is where you will roller skate, and enjoy bumper cars, laser tag, and other planned sporting events.
If you are a pickleball fan you will want to look for when the competitions are. There are all sorts of sports competitions and activities in this area. It is fun.
The Playmakers Sports Bar is located right above which is a great area to watch the action.
Our Experience
We loved all the arcade games located both on the main level and above. There is always something going on in this area!
10. Roller Skating
We always like to ice skate on our Royal Caribbean Cruises. I was excited to learn that the Odyssey of the Seas has roller skating instead.
It is located in the Seaplex area on Deck 14 and 15.
Our Experience
We were really sad when we boarded and learned that roller skating was not available during our cruise.
We would have loved to do this so I wanted to mention it so that you know that this may be an option on your cruise!
I think this would be one of the best Odyssey of the Seas activities!
11. Indoor Games
All along the Seaplex are fun games. Some are arcade games that cost an additional fee but there are fun games (Pictured Above) that are free. There are lots of different games all around this area!
My husband and daughter are playing a table soccer game. It was really fun. My son loved playing the video games in the area.
Virtual Adventure Zone
If you head upstairs there are even more games. This area is supposed to be a 4D or virtual reality experience. You will get a VR headset and be able to play some awesome VR games.
When we were on the ship we walked around the area but there was nothing that indicated a “Virtual Adventure Zone”
I am pretty sure this is an additional cost but honestly, we could never find it!
Hopefully, you can find this and have fun!
12. Outdoor Games
One thing I love about Odyssey of the Seas is that there is fun around every corner you take!
As you walk on Deck 15, there are huge outdoor games.
- Chess
- Twister
- Pool with Soccer Balls
- Shuffle Board
We had fun playing a few games as we walked around the ship. This is a fun thing to do on Odyssey of the Seas when you have some time to kill!
13. Trivia and Game Shows
I have a trivia-loving son. He would show up to every single session during our week cruise.
The trivia game time will be located in your app and will let you know in what location it will be held. Usually, they are in the Schooner Bar or the English Pub.
There were times when he was one of four people who showed up! Needless to say, he got a few prizes because if you win you will get a prize.
Trivia games are one of the best Odyssey of the Seas activities to enjoy!
We always have a good time participating!
14. Rock Climbing Wall
The rock climbing wall is located on deck 15. It is on the backside of the ship near the big cat. (The cat is art.)
My younger kids love rock climbing. This was a little harder of a climb but they still loved it. There are different areas for beginners and more advanced climbers.
This is a fun activity to include on your cruise adventure on Odyssey of the Seas!
15. Dance Parties
Silent dance parties are so fun! You will get headphones as you walk in.
These headphones have two switches which are connected to two live DJs. Each DJ is playing different songs. You can switch back and forth to whatever song you like best.
We have found when these parties are on the top decks they are more fun! More people participate and act crazy!
16. Water/Aerobic Classes
After eating so much, I always want to take a chance when I can and exercise.
There are some free aerobic classes offered during a cruise. Some classes have an additional fee associated with them.
Our Experience
I think water aerobics is a great exercise for the whole family. We did this a few times during our cruise. It was included in the price of the cruise.
It was fun and made me feel better about eating everything in sight!
17. Running Track
On the same topic of exercise, there is a running track. However, it is located on deck 15. This area is crowded.
Most of the fun activities on the Odyssey of the Seas are located on this deck making it a popular area for cruisers.
If you want to run you may have trouble with individuals not even realizing it is a running track and crossing or standing in the middle of the track.
The best time to run would be super early before anyone wakes up or a late-night run when most people are eating.
Our Experience
My husband loves to run. This track was not great. Another issue he had was because it was on the top deck the wind was severe. It would push against you as you tried to run. We really love the track on the Oasis class ships.
18. Never Ending Ice Cream
One of the best things to do on the Odyssey of the Seas is go get the all-you-can-eat ice cream cones.
This is one of my favorite things to do on cruise ships! Anytime my family is in the area we always make a stop.
It is so awesome to have something so fun always available!
19. Kids Club on Odyssey of the Seas
The kids club Adventure Ocean on Odyssey of the Seas is fun! This club is included in your cruise fare.
These areas are just for kids! Kids are divided into age groups and offered awesome activities to do. There are games, crafts, science experiments, video games, and themed parties just for kids.
Our Experience
My son is always so scared to go to the kids club. Most kids will be so excited to go over and over again.
My son enjoys himself when he goes but I think he has a fear of missing out on what the rest of the family is doing since he is the youngest!
Royal Caribbean Kids Club is an award-winning club!
20. Teen Club on Odyssey of the Seas
The teen club is called Social 180. The teen club is more laid back than the kids club and there are less structured activities. It is the perfect place just for teens.
It is more of a hang-out place for teenagers. On Odyssey of the Seas, there is a private balcony where teens can hang out and enjoy the ocean.
There are also video games, pool tables, and other activities just for teens. It is a great place to meet other teens on the ship!
21. Crafts on Cruise Ship
Seperate from the kids club although housed in the kids club are family crafts. Typically parents are not allowed in the kids club except during special events.
A few of the days families are invited to come create slime or create a craft together. This was really the only way my son would even step foot in the kids club. I had to be right with him.
These are fun activities on Odyssey of the Seas for families!
22. Shows/ Entertainment
The shows that we saw during our cruise may be different from the ones you will see. But I promise that they will be great.
I was actually really surprised with how many shows were offered. There was a new one pretty much every night of our 7-night cruise.
Headline Shows
The headlining shows were Showgirls, The Effectors, and The Book.
We didn’t attend the main show “Showgirls” because, with a name like that, we didn’t want to take our kids!
We did see The Effectors which is a superhero show with some awesome special effects. This was probably my favorite show!
Both the Showgirl and Effectors were shown in the Royal Theater.
“The Book” is also another cool show with acrobats and performers. It was really cool. This is in Two70 which is a state-of-the-art facility. (Lots of technology)
The lineup on our cruise was great. We loved being entertained and enjoyed all of the shows we saw.
Music Venues
You can also go to the Music Hall, English Pub, and the Schooner Bar to listen to live music. There may be other pop-up locations to listen to live music.
You might even find a piano player in the elevator!

Booking a Cruise
If this list has helped you decide that booking a cruise is right for you, I have a little insider tip.
You can book directly with Royal Caribbean or if you book with a third party like Priceline or, Getaway today, you might get more bang for your buck.
A lot of times these sites will give you onboard spending cash or extras that the cruise line will not offer.
My parents cruise 6+ times a year and often will use Priceline to get bonus offers. Do your research to see where you can get the best deal!
Another thing to look for is if the Odyssey of the Seas has a stop at the Royal Caribbean private island Perfect Day at Cococay! it is amazing! There are lots of fun excursions on that island.
If you are headed to Roatan, Cozumel, or Costa Maya , Rome, there are some great shore excursions.
Booking a cruise with family is one of the best cruise gifts ever!
