Map of Hotels in Walking Distance of Disneyland
As you can see, there are so many options for hotels in walking distance of Disneyland. I am excited to break down which are the closest and the best!
Let's start with the closest.
Closest Hotel to Disneyland
The absolute closest hotel to Disneyland is the Grand Californian. It actually has an exit directly into California Adventure.
It also has an exit near the Disneyland Monorail, which will take you right into Tomorrowland.
Grand Californian
The Grand Californian is a DVC property. What does that mean? Well, those who are part of the Disney Vacation Club have ownership in this hotel. I don't have that can I stay there? Yes!
The Grand Californian is one of 3 Disneyland resorts owned by Disney.
Cost to Stay at the Grand Californian
The Grand Californian is the nicest hotel near Disneyland. It is beautiful! This is one of the best hotels near Disneyland for families. Hands down! It is close, it is nice, and it has all the Disney magic you could ever want in a hotel. Plus, you get into the parks an hour earlier!
But all that comes with a price! The Grand Californian is one of the most expensive hotels near Disneyland. With that said, the Grand Californian 2-bedroom villa suites are perfect if you have a large family or want to go with grandma and grandpa.
Discounts on the Grand Californian Hotel
I have the best Grand Californian secret ever! I know how to save you over $1000 per night!! What?!!! Yes! I did it myself at Disney's Aulani Resort. Are you ready?
There is a company called Davids Vacation Rentals. This company allows those who are Disney Vacation Club members that do not want to use their points to sell them to you.
You can check out their cost calculator on their website and see if this is something you want to do. The best deals are on the suites. If you want a bigger suite you will need to book pretty far in advance. The standard room prices do not save you quite as much.
Benefits of Staying at the Grand Californian
- Closest Hotel to Disneyland
- One Hour Early Admission to Disneyland
- Character Dining on Site
- Direct Entrance to California Adventure
- Direct Access to Downtown Disney
- Luxury Hotel
Disadvantages of Staying at the Grand Californian
- Cost
- Books Out
Disneyland Hotel with Shuttle Service
Shuttle service is not needed at the Grand Californian. It is so close!
Hotels in Walking Distance of Disneyland - Disney Properties
I wanted to mention that Disney owns two other properties: The Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier.
Personally, I don't think they are worth staying at because they are so much more money compared to the off-site Disneyland hotels and they are not closer to the parks.
Benefits of Staying at the Disney Resorts
- One Hour Early Admission
- Disneyland Hotel has a Character Breakfast
- Near Downtown Disney
- In walking distance of Disneyland
Disadvantages of Staying at the Disney Resorts
- Cost
- You have to walk to get to Disneyland (might as well save money somewhere else)
Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
Now, I'm sure this is the part you have been waiting for. What the best off-site Disneyland hotels are across the street. Well, let me tell you there are a lot!
My first list will include those Disneyland hotels across the street that are original Disneyland hotels from the 1950s and 1960s.
- Camelot Inn and Suites
- Tropicana Inn and Suites
- Best Western Plus – Park Place Inn
- Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites
- Del Sol Inn
- Best Western Plus – Anaheim Inn
- Grand Legacy at the Park
- The Anaheim Hotel
- Castle Inn and Suites
Some people love staying in these hotels. Really…. they are the closest off-site hotels in walking distance of Disneyland. That is an awesome perk. For the most part, they are clean and kept up.
Personally, I have stayed in a few of these and they are not my favorite. The rooms are small. The doors face outward towards the outside. (I hate that) They feel like motels from the 1950s. Although, many are updated. They are perfect if you want a hotel in walking distance of Disneyland!
Benefits of Staying at the Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- So Close
Disadvantages of Staying at the Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- Older
- Smaller
- Room Doors Face to the Outside
- Cost (Sometimes the prices are just as much as newer hotels)
Disneyland Hotel with Shuttle Service
These hotels are so close you do not need shuttle service.
The Best Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
The prize for the best off-site Disneyland hotels across the street goes to the Courtyard Marriott and Howard Johnson by Wyndham Hotel and Water Playground. These are some of the best hotels near the Disneyland entrance.
Both the Courtyard Marriott and Howard Johnson have water parks. This is amazing if you visit Disneyland during the summer. I prefer the Courtyard over Howard Johnson because it is newer and nicer. It is the best hotel near Disneyland for families because it also has larger rooms that sleep up to 6.
Best Hotels Near Disneyland Entrance
My runners-up for the best hotels near the Disneyland entrance include the following:
- Holiday Inn Express and Suites Anaheim Resort
- Home 2 Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort
- Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim Resort
- Fairfield by Marriott Anaheim Resort
The Fairfield is just as close as the Courtyard however you do not have the water park access.
Do some RESEARCH!
I want you to look at the prices of these hotels compared to the prices of the other list of Disneyland hotels across the street. Remember, that this list includes newer hotels. See what works best for you!
Benefits of Staying at These Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- So Close
- Newer
- Nicer
- Bigger
- Water Park (Courtyard and Howard Johnson)
Disadvantages of Staying at These Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- Cost (Courtyard is more expensive)
Disneyland Hotel with Shuttle Service
These hotels are so close you do not need shuttle service.
Disneyland Hotels Convention Center
The Disneyland Convention Center area is a great place to stay. It is just less than a mile from the park entrance. We have stayed in this area and loved it!
We stayed at Springhill Suites Convention Center. It is one of the best hotels near Disneyland for families. You can upgrade to a room that has two queen beds, a pull-out couch, and a bunk bed. It sleeps 8. It is really nice and it is brand new!
There are a lot of hotels in this area!
Disneyland Convention Center Hotels
- Springhill Suites Convention Center
- Residence Inn Convention Center
- Anaheim Portofino Inn
- Hyatt House at Anaheim
- Wyndham Anaheim
- Hotel Indigo Anaheim
- Desert Palms Hotel and Suites
Benefits of Staying at a Convention Center Disneyland Hotel

Disadvantages of Staying at Convention Center Disneyland Hotels
- Almost 1 Mile to Park
Disneyland Hotel with Shuttle Service
Yes. The Anaheim Resort Transit (ART) has a shuttle service that picks you up from the resort and drops you off at the hotels nearby. This does cost extra.
Hotels with Free Shuttle to Disneyland
There are a few hotels that are located near the Mickey and Friends parking structure. You can easily walk from the hotels to the free Disney parking shuttle. This shuttle will take you right to Downtown Disney. It will be a short walk to Disneyland.
We have stayed at the Holiday Inn and Suites Anaheim many times and loved it! It is easy to walk to the parking structure and get a ride on the tram.
Mickey and Friends Parking Structure Hotels
Toy Story Parking Area Hotels (Located Near The Convention Center)
- Sheraton Park Hotel at Anaheim Resort
- Clarion Hotel Anaheim
- Courtyard Anaheim
- Double Tree Suites Convention Center
- Hyatt Place Convention Center
- JW Marriott
The Toy Story Parking Lot is near the convention center. You can jump on a free shuttle bus to Disneyland instead of walking.
Benefits of Staying at a Disneyland Hotel Near Parking Structures
- Lower Price
- Free Transportation
Disadvantages of Staying at a Disneyland Hotel Near Parking Structures
- Waiting for Bus or Tram (busses do not always come when they say they should)
- Crowds at bus and tram stops

Disneyland Hotel with Shuttle Service
Yes, You can take the Anaheim Resort Transit or there is a free option at the Disney-owned parking structures.
Disneyland Hotels with Shuttles
The Anaheim Resort Transit actually has a lot of stops. You can stay a little farther away and plan on using the bus system.
Here are some good options for Disneyland Hotels with shuttle service:
I stayed at the Sheraton Four Points on my last trip. It was a hotel in walking distance of Disneyland. However, we tried out the Anaheim Resort Transit to save on a little walking.
We wanted to save some money and the prices at the Sheraton Four Points is always great. I wouldn't stay here again because it is very close to the HWY. (very loud!)
Benefits of Staying at Disneyland Hotels with Shuttle Service
- Lower Cost
Disadvantages of Staying at Disneyland Hotels with Shuttle Service
- Far from Disneyland
Disneyland Hotels with Shuttle Service
Yes, The Anaheim Resort Transit has stops located near these resorts.

Disneyland Anaheim Resort Transit
If you decide to book a Disneyland hotel that is not within walking distance and want to book a Disneyland hotel with Shuttle Service, I thought I would share my experience.
It is super easy to purchase a bus pass. You simply download the A-way WeGo app. You can purchase your tickets through the app. You will show the driver as you board.
Cost
The cost to ride the ART was about $6 a day. It wasn't too expensive.
Bus Times
The bus is supposed to come every 15 minutes. during park opening and closing times This was not the case, many times we waited a lot longer!
Bus Pick Up
If you want to go back to your hotel during the day. There is a special app that you can request a pick-up. We tried this and it was not very reliable. We were able to go back and rest in the middle of the day but it was not easy.
My Conclusion
Unless you really want/need to save money, find a hotel in walking distance of Disneyland. We like taking breaks and having our hotel nearby. It makes a huge difference! Waiting for buses was not worth it to me. The tram system is much better if you stay near that area.

- Howard Johnson Water Park
- Spring Hill Suites Anaheim Convention Center

- Hyatt House at Anaheim Convention Center
These are my top picks. I know the areas well and have stayed in almost every single one of them. My top two locations would be the Disneyland hotels across the street (the newer ones) and the convention center area.

Wow, this is some list right here. Thanks for writing in such detail – now I know where to look whenever I’m planning a visit to Disneyland!
Thanks! I figure I have been so many times…This might be helpful especially for a first timer!
We stayed at a hotel near Disneyland, when we were there years ago. I believe it was the Candy Cane Inn. It was super convenient for spending the day at the park, going back to the room to rest and swim and then go back to Disneyland for the evening. The Grand Californian looks amazing.
There are a lot of local fun hotels!
I had no idea there were so many hotels in walking distance of Disneyland! Definitely saved to my Disneyland pins. Hope to get there one day!
Disneyland has a lot of options for hotels!
The Howard Johnson would be my kids first pick. They love finding hotels with a waterpark! And such a bonus that this hotel is walking distance to Disney!
It has great reviews!
I like staying at Disneyland hotels that are with in walking distance. It allows me to go take a nap in the middle of the day. 🙂
That is my favorite part!
It’s one of my dreams to stay at the Grand Californian Hotel. I love the idea of walking from the park directly into my hotel! But you’re right, there are so many hotels within walking distance of the Disneyland. We live in the area and it’s always a discussion among us Disneyland goers: Where did you stay this time? And if they have free or included parking, that’s a bonus!
That is so true!
Thank you so much for this in depth look at the hotels! It’s funny, because my twin brother was just at Disneyland yesterday. I guess I’ll have to look into going myself.
It is a fun place!
We’ve stayed at a few of these, and like you, I’m not a fan of the motel-type properties. My favorite Anaheim hotel is the new JW Marriot, it is so pretty, it smells yummy and the customer service is top-notch!
I was so tempted to stay there last time!
I love Disneyland! And those are all great options for people to stay near the park and not having to travel too far. Thanks for sharing!
Disneyland is great!
I stayed at a hotel near Disneyland – I cannot remember which one now. Is one of the hotels still connected by monorail? Thanks for the lowdown on the hotels, I am planning to visit LA with a visit to Disneyland this coming December. Your guide will make it easier to plan – thank you.
The Grand Californian has easy access to the monorail.
I love that some of these hotels have a slight Disney theme inside them! This is very helpful for people planning a trip to Disneyland – thanks for sharing!
I liked that too!
This is a great list of hotels in walking distance of Disneyland! I personally, being a morning person, would love the 1 hour early admission to the park. But the cost might not be worth it.
I know right…..it is a tough choice!
Having alternatives to choose from is very important! Great advice!
I love that there are so many choices.
We’ve been to Disneyland twice now. For our first stay, we did Howard Johnson’s. It has a nice pool, but the walk is still a bit far when your feet are tired. We are afternoon break people. We love to rope drop, take an afternoon break, and then close it down. That’s a lot of back and forth for us.
Last September, we stayed at Camelot Inn. We are a party of three, so space is not a huge issue. We were only there two nights to do Disneyland and Oogie Boogie Bash. The time flew by! I like staying along Harbor Blvd. We’ve eaten at the Denny’s and McDonald’s there more than I’d like to admit!
Of course, my dream in the Grand Californian. It costs so much though, and the walk from Harbor Blvd. is so easy it’s hard to justify the price. I’d love to stroll right into California Adventure from my hotel one day, though!
I’m tentatively planning a short Disneyland trip for next June to get a Disney fix before a (hopefully) WDW trip in 2024. I’m hoping Genie+ and other issues are straightened out by then!
We did Genie plus in April and it worked great! So hopefully that is good now. We have stayed all over the area. I really loved the convention center but it is a little walk. I Disney the same way..early break close it down!
Great list. I wish they had hotels in walking distance to Disneyworld – we haven’t been to Disneyland yet.
I know right! Disney has the Monolpoly at DW!
This is an epic guide to the best hotels to stay at within walking distance of Disneyland. Love all the details to help choose the right one.
Thanks! It is a lot different than Disney World…So many more hotel brand choices!
Such a phenomenal list of hotels. We never knew that there were that many within walking distance to Disneyland. Thank you for sharing.
It is so nice they are all so close to the parks!
