Grand Canyon Tours

Grand Canyon National Park consists of the North Rim and South Rim.  The most popular place to see Grand Canyon National Park is the South Rim.

The West Rim is not a part of the National Park.  It is owned by the Huapapi Tribe.  However, there are lots of Grand Canyon tours from Las Vegas to the West Rim.  We will highlight these in this post.

We are going to list some awesome Grand Canyon tours in each area.  To start we will begin with Guided Grand Canyon Tours from popular areas near the Grand Canyon.

Guided Grand Canyon Tours

First, we are going to start with the BIG tours.  The ones that include transportation and accommodations.  These are the best Grand Canyon tours that take care of almost everything for you.

Grand Canyon Bus Tours From Las Vegas

Some of these tours will take you to the Grand Canyon West and others are Arizona Grand Canyon Adventures.

Best Grand Canyon Tours from Sedona or Flagstaff

Sedona is a little over 2 hours from the Grand Canyon. Flagstaff is about an hour and a half to the Grand Canyon. Here are some of the best Grand Canyon tours from these locations.

Mule Ride Down into the Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon mule tours

How does a Grand Canyon mule tour sound?  This is one of the most popular and iconic things to do when you visit the Grand Canyon.

These tours are run directly through the National Park Services or their partners.  These tours are booked out sometimes 15 months in advance.

How Much is a Mule Ride in the Grand Canyon?

A Mule ride is around $170 per person at the South Rim and $50-$100 at the North Rim.

Grand Canyon Hiking Tours

Bright Angel Trail

Grand Canyon Bright Angel Trail is intense! Located at the South Rim, it is one of the most popular trails.

It is a 10-mile trek to Phantom Ranch.  It takes 5-7 hours just to get down and double that amount of time to get back up. You can arrange a guided hiking Grand Canyon tour is available.

Hermits Trail

Again most hikes in the Grand Canyon are intense.  The Hermits trail is around 9 miles and drops 2000 ft in the first 2.5 miles.  This trail is also located on the South Rim. Booking a guided Grand Canyon tour for this hike is a great idea.

Grand View Trail

I would not recommend going on the Grand View Trail unless you book a guided hiking Grand Canyon tour.  This hike is extreme with drop-offs that could easily be your demise.  Winter is not the best time to go on this trail as it can be icy!

Kaibab Trail

Kaibab is one of the shortest hikes down the Grand Canyon.  If you are short on time but want to book a guided hiking tour, this is your best Grand Canyon tour option.

The hike is less than 7 miles, but be prepared there is only one way down and all of the Grand Canyon hikes are steep.

Grand Canyon Skywalk

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is located on the West Rim, meaning it i not a part of the National Park.  It is owned by the Hualapai Tribe.

What is the Grand Canyon Skybridge?

The Skybridge is 70 feet off the edge and 4,000 ft in the air. It is designed to hold the weight of 70 fully loaded 747 airplanes.

How Much Does it Cost to Walk on the Grand Canyon Skybridge?

You can book your tickets for the Skybridge online.  Prices vary depending on the packages you want to purchase.  The starting rate is around $50.

One thing to note is that the Hualapai Tribe does not allow you to take pictures.  They will make you lock up all belongings before going on the Skybridge.  You can purchase a photo package onsite.

There are some fun Grand Canyon Jeep tours to check out.  Most of these are on the South Rim.   These tours will take you along the rim for fantastic views!

I have done a little research and these seem to be the best Grand Canyon Jeep tours to check out!

White Water Rafting Trips in the Grand Canyon

White Water Rafting Tours grand canyon

If you are looking for a Grand Canyon Adventure tour white water rafting is a great option.  What I found is that rafting in the Grand Canyon is a lot more expensive compared to other areas like Moab or locations near Yellowstone or the Grand Tetons.

One of the reasons so many people love white water rafting in the Grand Canyon is that it is a wild ride.  There are a lot of class IV.  You may drop 15 feet in 10 seconds!

Helicopter Grand Canyon Tours

The best Grand Canyon tour is from the air! A Grand Canyon Helicopter tour will give out of this world views.

A lot of the Grand Canyon Helicopter tours are out of Las Vegas.  There are a lot of them! They are very popular.  You can choose how much time you want to spend in the air. Some will land and some include additional tour options like Hummer tours.

There are few Grand Canyon horseback tours however, I only found one with really great reviews. This tour will give you great views of the Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon Railway

Grand Canyon wintertime train

One of the best Grand Canyon tours is by train.  The Grand Canyon Railway boards in Williams Arizona.  This scenic drive is sure to impress!

The train will take about 3 hours to get to the Grand Canyon Village.  This will give you access to the South Rim.  Driving a car from Williams Arizona only takes an hour.  The train is a very scenic way to get to the Grand Canyon.  It does not take you along the rim but along the road, you would drive your car.

Is the Grand Canyon Train Worth it?

If you love trains and want to relax and not worry about parking once you get to the Grand Canyon it might be worth it to book your tickets and enjoy the ride.

All of the reviews I have read say that the service is great and the seats are very comfortable. You can book first class and have dome-view seating.  It is worth doing at least once in your life!

Photoshoot in Grand Canyon

  2. I love train travel and riding the dome car on a Grand Canyon tour sounds wonderful. I have ridden the Rocky Mountaineer Red Rocks line out of Colorado, the stone formations at the canyon and the surrounding area are gorgeous.

  3. I would pick a photography tour of the Grand Canyon. Seeing the Grand Canyon dressed in snow compared to the red rock would make it hard to pick which time of year to visit.

  4. What a great list of tours at the Grand Canyon! We thought we were going to get there this past April and it didn’t happen. At some point I’ll see it in person! I also didn’t realize the West Rim was owned by a tribe. Is it easy to access the skywalk then?

    1. You have to pay the tribe to go on the West Rim and you can’t take pictures, they make you have their photographers take them.

  5. The grand canyon has always been a place I’ve wanted to visit but never quite got to. I doubt I will not with the price of everything and the reluctance to leave my cats! But it looks truly amazing!
