Map of Hotels in Walking Distance of Disneyland
As you can see on this map of hotels near Disneyland, there are so many options for hotels in walking distance of Disneyland. I am excited to break down which are the closest and the best!
Let’s start with the closest Disneyland hotels near the theme park.
1. Grand Californian - Closest Hotel to Disneyland
Distance to the Disneyland ParkEntrance: Located inside of California Adventure Park
The absolute closest hotel to Disneyland is the Grand Californian. It actually has an exit directly into California Adventure Park.
It also has an exit near the Disneyland Monorail, which will take you right into Tomorrowland. You can also walk to the theme park entrance through Downtown Disney.
Grand Californian Luxury Hotel
The Grand Californian is a DVC property. What does that mean? Well, those who are part of the Disney Vacation Club have ownership in this hotel. I don’t have that, can I stay there? Yes!
The Grand Californian is one of 3 Disneyland resorts owned by Disney.
Cost to Stay at the Grand Californian
The Grand Californian is the nicest hotel near Disneyland. It is beautiful! This is one of the best hotels near Disneyland for families. Hands down! It is close, it is nice, and it has all the Disney magic you could ever want in a hotel. Plus, you get into the parks an hour earlier!
But all that comes with a price! The Grand Californian is one of the most expensive hotels near Disneyland. With that said, you will receive luxury accommodation.
Is the Grand Californian Worth the Price?
Is it worth the price? Maybe? If money isn’t an issue and you are looking for a luxury accommodation that is in fact the closest hotel to Disneyland, then Yes!
Also, if you are going to Disneyland with Grandma and Grandpa and you are going to split the cost The Grand Californian 2-bedroom villa suites are perfect.
Discounts on the Grand Californian Hotel
I have the best Grand Californian secret ever! I know how to save you over $1000 per night!! What?!!! Yes! I did it myself at Disney’s Aulani Resort. Are you ready?
Davids Vacation Rentals
There is a company called Davids Vacation Rentals. This company allows those who are Disney Vacation Club members that do not want to use their points to sell them to you.
You can check out their cost calculator on their website and see if this is something you want to do.
The best deals are on the suites. If you want a bigger suite you will need to book pretty far in advance. The standard room prices on smaller rooms do not save you quite as much.
Benefits of Staying at the Grand Californian
- Closest Hotel to Disneyland
- One Hour Early Admission to Disneyland
- Character Dining on Site
- Direct Entrance to California Adventure
- Direct Access to Downtown Disney
- Luxury Hotel
- Purchases Can Be Delivered to Room

Disadvantages of Staying at the Grand Californian

Hotels in Walking Distance of Disneyland - Disney Properties
I wanted to mention that Disney owns a few other properties: Paradise Pier, Disneyland Hotel and the new Villas at Disneyland Hotel.
The Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier are nice hotels but are much more expensive than staying off-site. These hotels are the same distance to the parks as many other off-site Disneyland hotels within walking distance.
The new Villas at Disneyland Hotel is the option I would choose out of these Disney properties because they are brand new and you can use the Davids Vacation Club discount on them.
2. Disneyland Hotel
Distance to the Parks: .5 miles about a 10-minute walk
The Disneyland Hotel is located near Downtown Disney. It is a great location if you want to shop and grab a bite to eat as you leave the park.
In the past, I would have said to save your money and stay off of Disney property. Mainly, because you still have to walk half a mile to the park entrance but the prices at Disney properties are expensive.
I have had a little change of heart because of the new Villas at Disneyland Hotel. These fit larger families! Which is awesome! I also love that you can save money using Davids Vacation Club on the villas!
Davids Vacation Club
So not only can you get all of the benefits of staying on property like extra hours in the park you can get at discount if you book through Davids Vacation Club!
3. Paradise Pier Hotel
I have not stayed at Paradise Pier. One of the main reasons is that it is a 15-minute walk to Disneyland and it is expensive and outdated compared to other brands of hotels.
(I am going to show you a ton of awesome good neighbor hotels that are a lot cheaper and closer to Disneyland below.)
However, there are benefits to staying at Paradise Pier and I list them below. Sometimes Paradise Pier will offer additional perks, such as a guaranteed reservation to a new ride or event.
In this case, it could totally be worth the extra money to stay on-site. Another perk is that you can use the Grand Californian entrance to California Adventure.
So if you want to pay the lowest price for a Disneyland Resort, Paradise Pier is a great option.
My Thoughts
I don’t know about you, but having to walk to Disneyland but pay expensive Disney prices for a hotel that is out of date, is not exciting. But the exciting news is that it is currently going through a renovation phase and will hopefully be updated soon.
The main reason I added Paradise Pier to this list is because it is a great option if you want the benefits of staying at a Disney resort and it is within walking distance of Disneyland and do not want to pay for the Grand Californian or Disneyland Hotel.
Would I stay here? Only if there was a promotion that allowed me to get a special reservation I couldn’t get anywhere else!
Benefits of Staying at the Disney Resorts
- One Hour Early Admission
- Disneyland Hotel has a Character Breakfast
- Near Downtown Disney
- In walking distance of Disneyland
- Pools with Water Slides
Disadvantages of Staying at the Disney Resorts
- Cost
- You have to walk 10-15 minutes to get to Disneyland (You might want to save money on an off-site property that has the same walking distance.)
The Best Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
Now, I’m sure this is the part you have been waiting for. What are the best off-site or good neighbor hotels across from Disneyland? Well, let me tell you there are a lot! We will list out two categories.
- Best closest hotels within walking distance of Disneyland.
- Older hotels that are literally across the street from Disneyland.
The prize for the best off-site Disneyland hotels across the street goes to the Courtyard Marriott and Howard Johnson by Wyndham Hotel and Water Playground. These are some of the best hotels near the Disneyland entrance.
4. Courtyard Anaheim Themepark Entrance
Distance to the Parks: .5 miles or about a 7-10 minute walk
The Courtyard Marriott is a newer hotel. It is nice and up-to-date. Not only is this hotel right across the street from Disneyland, it is perfect for families.
Water Park
The Courtyard Marriott has a water park! The water park is amazing if you visit Disneyland during the summer or warmer months. It is a great place to come back and take a break from the parks.
Another amazing thing about the Courtyard is the rooms. Most rooms have bunk beds! This is a highlight for any kid! These family-style rooms are a big selling point if you are bringing your family to Disneyland.
Some rooms will even sleep a family of 6!
I vote Courtyard Marriott as the best hotel closest to Disneyland for families!
Benefits of Staying at Courtyard Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- So Close
- Newer
- Nicer
- Bigger Rooms for 6 guest
- Water Park
Disadvantages of Staying at Courtyard Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- Cost (Depending on the time of year it can be expensive but not as expensive as staying on-site)
5. Howard Johnson Water Park
Distance to Parks: .6 miles 11-15 minute walk
Howard Johnson is another great option if you are looking for the closest hotels to Disneyland entrance. It is another fantastic hotel near Disneyland for families.
There is a water park which is awesome for kids. My kids love to take a break and swim for an hour during the day and then head back to Disneyland.
It is a little older and the rooms are not as big as the Courtyard. The location is fantastic!
Benefits of Staying at Howard Johnson Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- So Close
- Bigger Rooms for 5 guest
- Water Park
Disadvantages of Staying at Howard Johnson Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- Older
6. – 9. Best Hotels Near Disneyland Entrance
Distance to Parks: .5-.7miles 10-15 minute walk
My runners-up for the best hotels near the Disneyland entrance include the following:
- 6. Holiday Inn Express and Suites Anaheim Resort
- 7. Home 2 Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort
- 8. Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim Resort
- 9. Fairfield Inn by Marriott Anaheim Resort
You might want to choose one of these if you have loyalty points or rewards with Hilton, Marriott, or IHG.
The Fairfield is just as close as the Courtyard however you do not have the water park access.
The rest of these hotels are pretty standard for Marriott and Hilton. You know you are going to get a nice hotel within walking distance to Disneyland.
Benefits of Staying at these Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- So Close
- Inexpensive
Disadvantages of Staying at the Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- Smaller Rooms Great for 4 Guest
10. - 18. Older Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
Distance to Parks: .3-.5 miles 6-8 minute walk
If you are looking for cheap hotels near Disneyland this may or may not be true for our next section.
My first list included newer Disneyland hotels across the street. Now we are going to focus on the original Disneyland hotels from the 1950s and 1960s. A lot of these are motel-style.
You would think these older motels would qualify for the category of “cheap hotels in walking distance of Disneyland” but some of these motels are expensive!
Why, you ask!? Well, these hotels were built right when Disneyland opened in 1955 and are in fact the closest hotels to Disneyland entrance
Original Disneyland Hotels
- 10. Camelot Inn and Suites
- 11. Tropicana Inn and Suites
- 12. Best Western Plus – Park Place Inn
- 13. Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites
- 14. Del Sol Inn
- 15. Best Western Plus – Anaheim Inn
- 16. Grand Legacy at the Park
- 17. The Anaheim Hotel
- 18. Castle Inn and Suites
Some people love staying in these hotels. Really…. they are the closest off-site hotels in walking distance of Disneyland. That is an awesome perk. For the most part, they are clean and kept up.
My Thoughts
Personally, I have stayed in a few of these and they are not my favorite. I admit I am a hotel snob. I thought some of the rooms were small for families. The doors face outward towards the outside. (I hate that) You can hear everything. Although many are updated, they still have the structure of a traditional 1950s hotel room.
Now, for the positive, they are not as expensive as Disney on-site properties. (They are expensive for a 1950s-style motel.) You are paying for the proximity to the park. If you don’t plan to be in your hotel room much these are perfect!
These hotels meet the requirement of a hotel in walking distance of Disneyland at a much lower price than staying at a Disney resort.
Benefits of Staying at the Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- So Close
Disadvantages of Staying at the Disneyland Hotels Across the Street
- Older
- Smaller
- Room Doors Face to the Outside
- Cost (Sometimes the prices are just as much as newer hotels)
Do some RESEARCH!
Compare prices! Numbers 4-18 are hotels across the street from Disneyland. The walking distance is pretty equal. Remember, to look at the newer hotel rates compared to the older. You might find a deal! See what works best for you!
Disneyland Hotels Convention Center
The Disneyland Convention Center area is a great place to stay. If you are looking for hotels 1 mile away from Disneyland or a little less then the Disneyland Conventions Center is a great option. We have stayed in this area and loved it!
We walked to the park and it was just fine from the Convention Center area.
These hotels have a view of Disney California Adventure Park. I am going to highlight Springhill Suites and then give you a few more options of hotels in this area.
19. Springhill Suites Convention Center
Distance to Parks: .7 17- 20-minute walk to park entrance
We stayed at Springhill Suites Convention Center. It is one of the best hotels near Disneyland for families.
You can upgrade to a room that has two queen beds, a pull-out couch, and a bunk bed. It sleeps 8. It is really nice and it is brand new! We really enjoyed the rooftop pool.
My kids need breaks during the day and this location is about .7 miles away from the park. It is about a 20-minute walk to Disneyland Theme Park.
There are a lot of hotels in this area!

Wow, this is some list right here. Thanks for writing in such detail – now I know where to look whenever I’m planning a visit to Disneyland!
Thanks! I figure I have been so many times…This might be helpful especially for a first timer!
We stayed at a hotel near Disneyland, when we were there years ago. I believe it was the Candy Cane Inn. It was super convenient for spending the day at the park, going back to the room to rest and swim and then go back to Disneyland for the evening. The Grand Californian looks amazing.
There are a lot of local fun hotels!
I had no idea there were so many hotels in walking distance of Disneyland! Definitely saved to my Disneyland pins. Hope to get there one day!
Disneyland has a lot of options for hotels!
The Howard Johnson would be my kids first pick. They love finding hotels with a waterpark! And such a bonus that this hotel is walking distance to Disney!
It has great reviews!
I like staying at Disneyland hotels that are with in walking distance. It allows me to go take a nap in the middle of the day. 🙂
That is my favorite part!
It’s one of my dreams to stay at the Grand Californian Hotel. I love the idea of walking from the park directly into my hotel! But you’re right, there are so many hotels within walking distance of the Disneyland. We live in the area and it’s always a discussion among us Disneyland goers: Where did you stay this time? And if they have free or included parking, that’s a bonus!
That is so true!
Thank you so much for this in depth look at the hotels! It’s funny, because my twin brother was just at Disneyland yesterday. I guess I’ll have to look into going myself.
It is a fun place!
We’ve stayed at a few of these, and like you, I’m not a fan of the motel-type properties. My favorite Anaheim hotel is the new JW Marriot, it is so pretty, it smells yummy and the customer service is top-notch!
I was so tempted to stay there last time!
I love Disneyland! And those are all great options for people to stay near the park and not having to travel too far. Thanks for sharing!
Disneyland is great!
I stayed at a hotel near Disneyland – I cannot remember which one now. Is one of the hotels still connected by monorail? Thanks for the lowdown on the hotels, I am planning to visit LA with a visit to Disneyland this coming December. Your guide will make it easier to plan – thank you.
The Grand Californian has easy access to the monorail.
I love that some of these hotels have a slight Disney theme inside them! This is very helpful for people planning a trip to Disneyland – thanks for sharing!
I liked that too!
This is a great list of hotels in walking distance of Disneyland! I personally, being a morning person, would love the 1 hour early admission to the park. But the cost might not be worth it.
I know right…..it is a tough choice!
Having alternatives to choose from is very important! Great advice!
I love that there are so many choices.
We’ve been to Disneyland twice now. For our first stay, we did Howard Johnson’s. It has a nice pool, but the walk is still a bit far when your feet are tired. We are afternoon break people. We love to rope drop, take an afternoon break, and then close it down. That’s a lot of back and forth for us.
Last September, we stayed at Camelot Inn. We are a party of three, so space is not a huge issue. We were only there two nights to do Disneyland and Oogie Boogie Bash. The time flew by! I like staying along Harbor Blvd. We’ve eaten at the Denny’s and McDonald’s there more than I’d like to admit!
Of course, my dream in the Grand Californian. It costs so much though, and the walk from Harbor Blvd. is so easy it’s hard to justify the price. I’d love to stroll right into California Adventure from my hotel one day, though!
I’m tentatively planning a short Disneyland trip for next June to get a Disney fix before a (hopefully) WDW trip in 2024. I’m hoping Genie+ and other issues are straightened out by then!
We did Genie plus in April and it worked great! So hopefully that is good now. We have stayed all over the area. I really loved the convention center but it is a little walk. I Disney the same way..early break close it down!
Great list. I wish they had hotels in walking distance to Disneyworld – we haven’t been to Disneyland yet.
I know right! Disney has the Monolpoly at DW!
This is an epic guide to the best hotels to stay at within walking distance of Disneyland. Love all the details to help choose the right one.
Thanks! It is a lot different than Disney World…So many more hotel brand choices!
Such a phenomenal list of hotels. We never knew that there were that many within walking distance to Disneyland. Thank you for sharing.
It is so nice they are all so close to the parks!
