Hotels at Legoland Windsor
There are 3 on-site Legoland Hotels.
Typically Legoland Hotel will be the least expensive option, followed by the Castle and Woodland Village.
We recently booked a Legoland Windsor package and were so glad we did. It saved us so much money!
The Legoland Windsor Hotel was built in 2012. Honestly, I thought it was dated and that may be the reason it is the least expensive option.
We have stayed in this exact hotel at the Legoland California resort and loved it.
Because we loved our Legoland California experience, we decided to stay in the Windsor Legoland Hotel on our last trip to London. There are a lot of similarities and a few differences we will discuss.
Hotel Legoland Windsor Review
I am going tell you what I did not like and then what I did like. Being American I love my air condition and this hotel did not have a good air condition unit. It was hot, I would open a window and then bugs would get it. So there you go! It was a little older of a resort and I felt it needed a remodel.
Now lets talk about the good because my 9 year old didn’t notice anything bad, in fact he loved every bit of it!
The Rooms
There are 4 different types of rooms you can choose from
Each floor is themed. For example, on the pirate floor, there is Pirate Lego carpet through the halls and lots of pirate maps and Pirate Lego creations. This is true for each floor.
We have stayed in both the pirate room and the adventure room and loved it. Inside each room there are lots of pre-built Lego-themed creations. It is awesome!
One thing that is so exciting is that in each room is a scavenger hunt and a treasure box with a coded lock. Once you figure out the code you can open the treasure box and get a really cool prize.
Room Types
There are several room types to choose from. You can get a standard room that fits 4 people or if you have a bigger family there are rooms that fit 5, 6, or even 8 people!
We love the family rooms. Our room had a king bed with a triple bunk bed. This is one of the best family-friendly hotels near Legoland Resort!
The Pool
The pool at Windsor Legoland is a little dated but was still a lot of fun. There is a shallow area with cannons and a small slide. There is also a normal pool.
You have to book a reservation to swim. You can do this before you check-in. Swim times are limited.
Legoland Playroom
There is a really fun Lego building area at the hotel. We spent hours building all kinds of Legos. There are also stem clinics inside.
Access to this room is included with premium rooms. We were able to go and play for hours. My 9-year-old loved it!
Not everyone has access to this area. There is a fee associated if you are not staying in a premium room.
Legoland Windsor Activities
There are lots of activities throughout the resort.
- Mini-Figure Character Meet and Greets
- Lego Building Contest
- Magicians
- Games
- Dance Parties
- Arcade
Our Legoland Windsor Review
We were able to enjoy many of these activities. There is a common area located just outside of the Bricks Breakfast area. There is a large castle and stage. This is where the activities take place.
We loved the Meet and Greets. The games and activities kept us busy at night because the park closes pretty early.
One thing I will say about the Legoland Hotel was the staff at the front desk seemed to not know what was included in the Legoland packages. They told me breakfast and dinner was included and I just needed to make a reservation. This is false, only breakfast is included.
Windsor Legoland Hotel Breakfast
We ate breakfast at both the Legoland Hotel (Bricks Family Restaurant) and the Castle Hotel (Tournament Tavern).
We thought breakfast at the Legoland Hotel was much better.
The Legoland Hotel offers a buffet style and you can also order off a menu. It was pretty good.
The Castle Hotel embraces the tavern’s old English style of food. We were not big fans of the menu.
Kids will most definitely like the Legoland Hotel food better.
Our Legoland Windsor Breakfast Experience
The staff when we check in told us that we could book the Legoland Hotel or Castle Hotel for breakfast but that is not correct. You are supposed to go to the breakfast location at the hotel you are staying at.
The Legoland Windsor Castle Hotel was built in 2017. It is a little newer than the Legoland Hotel and is a little more expensive.
The Lego Castle Hotel is decked out with lots of medieval decor, focusing on magic and dragons.
Room Types
There are two themed rooms to choose from: The Wizard Room or the Knights Room.
These rooms are perfect for families. There are options to have 4,5, or 6 people in them.
They are designed similarly to the Legoland Hotel in that they have a king bed in one room and a triple bunk in another.
Tournament Tavern Breakfast
We mentioned above that we were able to try out the Windsor Legoland Castle Hotel for breakfast.
There are cute kid buckets that come with cereal, yogurt, and croissants. When I looked at the menu, I struggled to find something I would enjoy.
We ate a little and headed straight to the park.
The Pool and Activities
If you stay at the Castle Hotel you will share the same pool, activities, and the Lego Playroom with the Legoland Hotel.
The Castle Hotel is right next door, so it is not too far to walk to enjoy all of these amenities.
If your kids love magic or knights be sure to Book the Castle Hotel.
Windsor Legoland Castle Review
I think booking a room at the Legoland Castle Hotel is a great choice if you kids love magic and knights. The hotel is newer than the Legoland Hotel which is a bonus.
The drawback is that if you want to use the pool or the Lego Playroom you have to go over to the Legoland Hotel. Also, the breakfast isn’t as good as the Bricks Restaurant.
Legoland Woodland Village was built in 2024. It is the newest addition to Legoland Windsor.
This is not a typical hotel. It is more of a glamping experience. There are 150 rooms in a village-type setting. Some rooms can accommodate up to 7 people!
The Legoland Woodland Village is located near the front entrance of Legoland. It is not near the Legoland Hotel or the Legoland Castle Hotel.
The Rooms
The Woodland Village has a few room options to choose from.
- Woodland Village Barrel
- Woodland Village Lodge
The main Woodland Village Lodge has two room types: standard and premium. The standard room has a king bed and a triple bunk. The premium room is two floors and has a king bed, triple bunk, and pull-out sofa.
The Woodland Village Barrel sleeps up to 4 people. There is one double bed and two single beds.
The Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar
All guests staying at the Woodlands Village have a free breakfast at the Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar.
The menu is pretty limited but that is not a bad thing. You can get a full English breakfast or you can get American pancakes.
Dinner is offered at the Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar. The menu offers everything a kid would want pizza, burgers, chicken, and more. One thing I noticed was the prices were very high, so keep that in mind.
Activities
Woodland Village offers a few activities not offered at the other Legoland hotels. They include:
- Nature Trails
- Adventure Golf
- Outdoor Play Areas
- Legoland Gift
- Evening Entertainment
Legoland Woodland Village Review
One thing that is awesome about the Woodland Village is that it is new. Everything is nice and up to date.
An important thing to mention is that you do not have early access to Legoland. You have to go to the main gate to enter with everyone else that are not staying on site. Also, you can not use the pool at the Legoland Hotel.
I would suggest Booking the Woodland Village if you have a kid that loves nature and would like an outdoor glamping experience.
Benefits of Staying at the Windsor Legoland Resort
Benefits of staying on-site at the hotels at Legoland Windsor (Castle and Legoland Hotel) are as follows:
- Free Breakfast
- Early Park Entrance
- Private Legoland Entrance
- Evening Activities even after the park closes
- Pool
- Themed rooms
- Character Meet and Greets
- Free Parking
- Legoland Playroom and Stem Space
- Lego Scavenger Hunt with Free Gift
- Play Ground
The benefits of staying at the Woodland Village are as follows:
- Free Parking
- Free Breakfast
- Legoland Gift
- Character Meet and Greets
- Evening Activities
- Play Ground
- Nature Trails
- Adventure Golf (Takes about 15 minutes)
Which Legoland Hotel is Better?
This is a tough question!
Legoland Woodland Village does not get the same perks as the other hotels and although it is new, I don’t think this would be my first choice unless my kids wanted a glamping experience.
Legoland Hotel VS. Castle Hotel
The Legoland Hotel offers all of the amenities on-site. The Legoland Castle Hotel has access to almost all the amenities located at the Legoland Hotel. (They are next door to each other.)
I think these hotels are pretty equal with the exception that the Castle Hotel is newer. I would choose the room theme your kids like best and decide based on that.
There are not many hotels near Legoland. The closest seems to be about 4 miles away.
This isn’t bad, however, when you have a bigger family (4+ people) the price to get two hotel rooms is almost the same price as a family suite at the Windsor Legoland Hotels.
If you have a small family booking off-site potentially can save you money depending on the time of year.
Hotels Near Legoland
Legoland Windsor has partnered with a few hotels near Legoland. You can book packages with these hotels on the actual Legoland site.
Most of these hotels are at least 4 miles away in Slough. Their top recommendations are as follows:
I also would consider Residence Inn in Slough because I love the Marriot brand.
My Experience Booking Legoland Hotel Windsor
As I looked at prices, staying on-site made more sense because we did not have a car. The price was cheaper than staying in a hotel in London and then visiting Legoland for a day.
I think the convenience factor and benefits of booking a Legoland Package was worth it. My 9-year-old loved this experience!
Legoland Hotels Windsor Resort
I hope this helped you decide which Legoland Windsor Resort you would like to stay at. We love Legoland and love staying onsite.
There are so many benefits and positive things that make it worth it!
I know whichever one you decide you will love it! Have fun at the best hotels at Windsor Legoland!
