Las Vegas Family Friendly Hotels
I did a lot of research on the best family-friendly hotels in Las Vegas. We have stayed in Vegas many times, however, we have always avoided the Las Vegas Strip when possible.
We have loved the Las Vegas Townplace Suites and I am always a fan of Marriott Vacation Clubs. Sometimes we even stay in Henderson. The JW Resort is also an awesome option off the strip!
On our most recent trip, we wanted to stay in a fun hotel on the strip. We decided to go with Mandalay Bay.
One of the top reasons I wanted to stay here was because it has the best wave pool and pool in Las Vegas. (I didn’t realize it would be closed for the season when we booked.)
We really liked the large rooms and the proximity to everything. The Mandalay Bay also has a Shark Reef Aquarium located inside.
Another cool thing is that there is a monorail that will take you to the Luxor and Excalibur. It is really easy to get around Las Vegas without having to drive.
Top Family-Friendly Vegas Resorts
- Mandalay Bay -Best Pool on the Strip
- Excalibur Hotel – Arcade and Tournament of the Kings
- Luxor – Titanic Musuem
- New York-New York Hotel – Roller Coaster and Hershey Store
- Caesars Palace – Shopping and Eating
- Tahiti Village Resort – Amazing Poo
Family Friendly Vegas Activities
Vegas is one place that is not geared toward kids however, there were a ton of children in Vegas when we went during the Christmas holiday season.
There are lots of fun things to do in Las Vegas with kids. We wanted to avoid the adult scene and find some fun family-friendly Vegas activities.
I will list all the things that we did and give you plenty of ideas of how you can make Las Vegas a family vacation.
On of the main reasons we wanted to book a Las Vegas family vacation was to see the Tournament of the Kings show.
We were not disappointed! There were lots of families and kids in the audience.
If you have ever been to a Medieval Times show this is very similar. You will be seated in a section (country). You will cheer on your king from your section.
Tournament of the Kings Show Tickets
I thought the tickets were reasonably priced and a good deal for a show and dinner option on the strip.
Dinner
Dinner is served while you watch the show. It is right out of the Medieval era with food options that would be normal during this time period.
It was pretty good. (could have used some salt.) But we embraced it and enjoyed the show while eating a chicken, corn, bread, and potatoes.
My kids didn’t really want to eat the food, (Picky) but it really wasn’t bad, they were just nervous to eat a whole chicken.
Show
The show is fun, especially if your section is loud and interacts with your king! My 9 year boy loved it. Overall, we had a good time and are very glad we went.
Excalibur
After or before your show be sure to enjoy the arcade games. It is designed for kids. There are lots and lots of games to play!
Family Friendly Las Vegas Shows
If this is your first time in Sin City you might be wondering if there are any family-friendly shows. I am happy to report that there are quite a few family-friendly shows in Las Vegas from magic shows to a Cirque du Soleil show.
We decided on Tournament of the Kings but I wanted to list some of the fun shows that we researched and give you a few options for shows that your whole family will love.
Family Friendly Las Vegas Shows
- Tournaments of the Kings
- David Copperfield Magic Show
- 0 Cirque Du Soleil
- Blue Man Group
- KA Cirque Du Soleil
- Mystere Cirque Du Soleil
- Illuminate
- Potted Potter
- Mat Franco Magic Show
If I were planning a Vegas itinerary with kids, I would choose 1-2 shows. Some of the shows are expensive and can add up if you have a larger family so keep that in mind.
2. Stroll the Strip
Walking the strip is sensory overload with all of the lights and flashing billboards! Kids could find this either really exciting or overwhelming!
Parents Be Aware
Here are some things as parents to be aware of so you can protect your children in Vegas.
- The smells in Las Vegas are awful. Your kids will smell all sorts of things. You can tell them to hold their nose as you walk down the strip if it gets too bad!
- Tell your kids to not take flyers from anyone. (These typically contain porn.)
- There will be showgirls walking along the strip. (These girls are typically wearing bikinis and feathers.)
- Prepare your kids that there will be musicians singing, rapping, or other people displaying their talents in hope for a tip.
Walking along the strip wasn’t that bad. I just told my kids if I tell you to close your eyes, just do it! They listened and all was well. We didn’t run into to much craziness.
I think walking down the strip is a family-friendly Vegas activity because there are some amazing stores that your kids will love.
We are going to jump into all of the fun places you can explore on the strip next!
3. Hershey Store
The Hershey Store is so fun! Kids of all ages will love it. We loved looking at all of the yummy chocolate. We have been to the Hershey store at Hershey Park and it was similar.
Location
The Hershey Store is located in the New York New York Hotel.
What You Will Find
There is a bakery, ice cream shop, and lots and lots of chocolate inside the Hershey Store! This is a great place to get a snack!
This store is one of the best things to do in Vegas with kids! you will probably want to spend 15-30 minutes exploring and eating in this store!
4. M&M Store
The M&M Store is 4 stories! It is really cool! It is definitely one of the best family-friendly Las Vegas activities on the strip!
Location
M&M store is right on the strip. It is easy to spot because it has big M&Ms on the front of the building.
What you Will Find
One thing my kids love at the M&M store is all of the photo opps. Everywhere you go you can take pictures with fun displays.
There are all kinds of M&M’s and different products and merchandise. It is worth a stop as you visit Las Vegas with kids!
Our Experience
I always love visiting the M&M Store. I love taking photos and shopping! We love visiting!
5. Coke Store
We loved the Coke Store, we had never been to one before! It was awesome!
Location
The Coke Store is located on the strip. Not too far from the M&M Store.
What You Will Find
There are multiple levels of merchandise and souvenirs. There are cool products (Like Sprite tic tacs) that you will not see anywhere else!
One of the coolest things you can do at the Coke Store is purchase an Around the World Coke package.
You will be given 17 different Coke products from all over the world. It is fun to try all the different flavors!
This is a highlight for a Las Vegas family trip!
Our Experience
This was my son’s favorite store. There seriously are so many cool products. We loved walking around and shopping!
6. New York New York Roller Coaster
If you have adventurous kids that like roller coasters, you will need to make a stop at the New York New York Hotel.
You can take a ride on the Big Apple Roller Coaster! This roller coaster goes 67 MPH. It is fast and is fun!
Tickets
You can buy tickets inside the resort.
My son has an obsession with the Titanic. He has read lots of books! When I learned that Las Vegas has a Titanic exhibit I really wanted to take him.
Tickets
Tickets are available for purchase at the resort and also ahead of time.
Our Experience
On our last trip, he was able to go and loved it! In his words, it was a dream come true! He loved the hands-on activities! We didn’t have a chance to visit the King Tut exhibit but if you have a history-loving kiddo, this is the place to visit!
The Titanic and King Tut Exhibits are located in the Luxor Resort.
8. Bellagio Fountain
The Bellagio Fountain is pretty amazing. It puts on quite a show.
The Bellagio Fountain Show has free admission and happens every 15-30 minutes depending on the time of day. They are more frequent at night.
If you are near the Bellagio you also might want to go inside and visit the botanical gardens. They are absolutely beautiful!
Our Experience
It was pretty crowded and a little cold the night we went on the strip. We were able to watch it from the Sephora across the street. They have an amazing window where you can see the whole thing from inside.
It would also be nice to watch the fountain from your hotel room if you are staying there.
9. Go Eat at Fun Resturants in Las Vegas
My teenagers are Gordan Ramsey fans. They were super excited to learn that there are over 8 different Gordan Ramsey restaurants in Las Vegas.
One of the top things on our list was eating at one. We looked at all the options. Some are very expensive but we found the most family friendly option was Gordan Ramsey Burger.
This restaurant is located inside of Planet Hollywood (Which is not kid Friendly) .
We waited about 45 minutes to be seated. This seems to be the normal wait no matter what time you arrive.
We had a fun time!
There are lots of restaurants owned by famous chefs in Las Vegas. Guy Fieri, Buddy, and Bobby Flay are just a few.
10. Shopping in Las Vegas
My girls 12, and 17 wanted to go shopping! Older kids and teenagers will appreciate the shopping in Vegas!
We did some research and first went to Fashion Show Mall. It was big and there are lots of stores but it is pretty much like any other mall in America.
One good thing about Fashion Show Mall is parking is free.
The Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace
We ventured over to Caesars Palace and found one of the coolest malls we have ever been to. They are called the Forum Shops at Caesars.
It is an indoor mall but you feel like you are under a blue night sky. The theme is ancient Roman with beautiful statues and artwork all around.
You can park in the Caesars Palace parking lot for around $25.
Our Experience
We loved going shopping at the Forum Shops. There are some cool stores we do not have in Utah. Like Aritzia, we got some really cute clothes.
Las Vegas with Kids Itinerary
I don’t think you will need more that 2 days in Vegas with kids.
If you want to venture off the strip to the Discovery Children’s Museum or out to the Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, or the Grand Canyon you could easily spend another day or two exploring surrounding areas, however downtown Las Vegas is doable in 2 days.
