I am so excited to share with you my favorite rides at Hollywood Studios. We are big Disney park fans! We have been to Hollywood Studios many times. In fact, my favorite ride in all of Disney World is located at Hollywood Studios.
In this post, I am going to list the top rides at Hollywood Studios. I will give you height requirements, ride times, and tell you what each ride is like. You can decide which of these Hollywood Studio rides are going to make your list.

1. Rock N Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Height Requirement: 48 inches
Ride Time 1 minute 22 seconds
Rock N Roller Coaster is my absolute favorite ride at Hollywood Studios! It is fast and fun. It is a thrill ride!
My favorite part is how fast it starts out. It feels like 0-60 in a few seconds. Then it continues in the dark with loud music! I love this ride.
The Line
Because this is Disney World the theme is awesome. You will be led into a room where you will watch a video of Aerosmith getting ready for a concert. Once you receive VIP tickets you will be guided to the limo “roller coaster”
If you want to be at the front of the line when the doors open head to the left side of the room.
Rider Switch
If you have little one under 48 inches you can do a rider swap. It is super easy just tell the worker and they will let you take turns riding while someone waits with the little ones. Another amazing thing about Rider Switch is if you have other kids they get to ride the ride 2 times in a row! It is awesome!
Single Rider Lane
Consider the single-rider line if you want to get on a lot faster than waiting in the normal line!
2. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Height Requirement: 40 inches
Ride Time: 4 minutes
The Tower of Terror is a classic Disney World ride. It is a fun elevator drop ride. The Twilight Zone adds a spooky twist to the theme and overall it is an excellent ride at Hollywood Studios.
To Scary for Kids?
We took our 5-year-old that was over 40 inches on the Tower of Terror. He was so scared! He looked like he had seen a ghost. Before he rode he told us he was so brave, after the ride he told us “he lost his brave”.
Just because your kiddo is tall enough to ride this ride doesn’t mean they should!
The Line
The line can get so so long! This is one of those rides where using Genie + is so worth it! Last time we went we waited an hour outside the building. It seemed like once you entered the building it moved pretty fast.
I think on busy days Disney knows how long the line gets and when we were there they sent over goofy and the gang to entertain us while we waited.
3. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Height Requirement: 40 inches
Ride Time: 18 minutes
Hello Star Wars Fans! The ride you have been waiting for! The Rise of the Resistance is an experience not just a ride. You will be given a mission from the resistance and encounter the first order along the way.
There are so many parts to the ride. Sometimes you are walking, sometimes you are riding, and something you are watching a video. It is quite the experience.
It is really fun! I really love the end of the ride as you fly through space.
Is it Okay for kids?
Yes, I think so, Kylo Ren is kind of scary but if you prep your kids that they are going to defeat the bad guys, it will probably be okay. We took our 5-year-old on this ride he loved it!
4. Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway
Height Requirement: Any Height
Ride Time: 7 Minutes
Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway is a newer ride that is so fun! We loved it! This ride is great for all ages! It is happy and fun and includes the classic short films of Mickey and Minnie.
Is This One of the Best Rides at Disney Hollywood Studios?
I would say yes, I really enjoyed the light-hearted experience. Is it a ride I would want to go on over and over? Probably not, I feel like one and done worked out just fine. However, if your little kids love it, you might go on it a few times.
The Line
The line leads you to a movie clip of the original Mickey Mouse gang. It was fun to watch!
5. Star Tours The Adventures Continue
Height Requirement: 40 inches
Ride Time: 5 minutes
Star Tours is one of my favorite rides at Hollywood Studios. I love the 3D Adventures through space. Plus, I am a Star Wars nerd.
I love how you can ride this ride over and over and never experience the same film. There are actually over 54 variations!
This ride does make you feel like you are traveling through space so if you get motion sickness it might make you a little queezy!
The Line
The line does have a theme. It feels like you are in an intergalactic airport. You will see lots of luggage being stowed away. You can watch clips about intergalactic travel. You will see R2-D2 and C3PO. The line end with you being loaded onto your aircraft.
6. Millinium Falcon Smugglers Run
Height Requirement: 38 inches
Ride Time: 4 minutes 30 seconds
Smugglers Run is a great interactive 3D experience and is great for Star Wars fans. You will be able to fly the Millennium Falcon. Each person in your group has a vital role. You will either be a pilot, engineer, or gunner.
During different parts of the ride, you will be required to hit different control buttons on the ship to progress in the ride.
I like this ride. I have been in every position but I think the pilot is probably the most fun. You get to control the ship. So if it is your first time see if you can sit in front.
Single Rider Lane
This ride has a single rider lane which is awesome. We have used it to ride over and over. Many times there will be groups of 4 so two people at a time can be taken from the single rider line. My son was a little nervous about going by himself but in the end, we didn’t have to because they took both of us on the same ship!
7. Slinky Dog Dash
Height Requirement: 38 inches
Ride Time: 2 minutes
Slinky Dog Dash is a junior coaster. It is a great coaster to take little kids on. It is one of the best rides at Hollywood Studios for younger kids who want to go on their first roller coaster!
The Line
The line is usually very long! Even if you arrive right when the park opens! This is one of those rides I would use your Genie+ on. We came right when the park opened and headed straight for this ride and still had to wait an hour.
Slinky Dog Dash is a super popular ride at Hollywood Studios!
8. Toy Story Mania
Height Requirement: All Heights
Ride Time: 8 minutes
This is my husband’s favorite ride at Hollywood Studios. He loves shooting games! He is highly competitive and wants to be on the winners board!
This virtual ride gives you opportunities to score lots of points. There are different screens with different games. You can earn points as you go along.
The Line
The line for the ride at Disney Hollywood Studios is incredible. It is very themed with everything from Toy Story. The last few times we have gone we bypassed the line and used Genie +.
Lightening Lane Options
It is good to make a plan of attack. This will make or break your Disney experience. I always have a plan, I will share with you what I would do so you can have a great experience.
What is Genie +
If you do not know, Genie + is a paid option on the Disney App. This will allow you to book fast passes for the Lightning Lane. This means you do not have to wait in line, you can go right on the ride.
Which Rides at Hollywood Studios Should I Book First on Genie +?
You might be asking what should I book on my genie +. This is a great question. The rides in Hollywood Studios get busy fast. There are some rides that you can book the Lightening Lane ahead of time on Genie+.

Rise of the Resistance
You might notice that Rise of the Resistance is not included in Genie+. You can pay extra money on top of Genie+ if you would like to use the Lightning Lane. I do not recommend this unless you are short on time and have never ridden it before.
Plan of Attack for Hollywood Studios Orlando Rides
I love having a plan this is what you need to know!
Purchase Genie +
You can purchase Genie+ at midnight on the first day you will be going to the parks. It is not necessary to stay up late to do this. You just need to purchase it before 7:00 am. (Maybe wake up at 6:30 AM)
At 7:00 am all Genie + participants can book their first ride even if the park has not opened yet. I would pick the ride you are most looking forward to for a time slot after 10:00 am.
When the park opens head straight for Rise of the Resistance. The wait time for this ride is still around 45 minutes right when the park opens.
While you wait in line, you are eligible to book another ride on Genie +. (You can book rides every 2 hours.) If you booked your first ride at 7:00 am, you can book your second ride at 9:00 am.
The park usually opens between 8:30 am – 9:30 am. Remember that the Rise of the Resistance ride is almost 20 minutes long so keep that in mind when booking your second and third ride.
Best Hollywood Studios Ride List
This is the best Hollywood Studios ride list to choose from. These are only the best rides at Hollywood Studios that typically have at least a 60-minute wait on normal days. These are the rides you will want to use your Genie + on. This does not include all of the attractions and smaller rides.

Star Tours and Smugglers Run usually do not have too long of a wait time (unless you are visiting during a holiday.)
Grace Period for Hollywood Studio Attractions
If you are running late to your reservation don’t worry, There is a 5-15 minute grace period. You can also change your time on the app if you know there is no way you will make it.
