Welcome! Hi, I’m Lisa! 

My family of six (2 adults and 4 kids) loves to travel.  I have become the ultimate family vacation planner!  Our family travel blog nails down the details of every trip we take! Our family loves to travel.

The United States is our favorite and we are on a mission to visit all 50 states.  We also love Europe! We have been many times! We are planning the ultimate summer in Europe for 2024! 

Meet Lisa and Chase

I (Lisa) grew up in Oklahoma! I moved to Utah at 18 to attend Brigham Young University.  After graduating in Exercise Science, I met Chase.  He grew up in Chicago, Illinois and had recently served a mission for our church in Bolivia.  We got married and lived in Utah while Chase finished his education.  He decided to go to school for 8 years and get 3 degrees.  

During that time we became world travelers and welcomed 2 of our children into the world.  During semester breaks we traveled all over the United States for internships. 

We lived in Texas, Oklahoma, and Illinois.  We were able to secure an internship in Germany and lived an entire summer exploring Europe. After the internship, we visited Italy, Austria, the UK, and France. It was amazing! 

Following graduation, we moved to Virginia and worked in Washington DC for a year.  We ended up back in Utah and have lived here for the last 11 years.  In that time we added two more kids to the mix! 

Meet the Family

Having lived in Utah now for 12+ years (including our time at BYU) we are Utahans! All of my kids have been born in Utah! We have done almost every fun thing in Utah from the mighty 5 national parks, Park City, St. George, Moab, and so many more amazing Utah locations. 

We love to hike and ski in the beautiful mountains near our home in Salt Lake City.  We also have visited the Utah national parks many many times!  We know the area very well.

We are a traveling family! We tend to take 4-5 trips a year as a family.  Disney typically wins each year!   Our favorite US vacations are Florida, California, Hawaii, and Alaska! 

Why Did you Create Planningaway?

The main reason I decided to start a travel blog is my love for travel and my love for planning.  The planning process is almost as fun for me as the trip itself! I love doing research!  

When I write I am always thinking about you.  I think about questions you might have and questions I had when I was planning and experiencing the trip.  I love to write travel tips that will help you! 

It is not uncommon for my husband and me to meet up with people or do zoom calls to help people plan trips.  We love talking about the details of a trip and pointers that most people do not even think about.

So why did I create planningaway? To help you plan the best trip ever!

 I am not a personal travel planner however, I would love to answer any questions you might have about upcoming trips.  That is why I created a Facebook Travel Community.  It is a way to help answer any questions you might have.
